Over a year after the release of the collaborations only album Eureka Eureka, Winky D comes back to the limelight with a for track project released on the 9th and 10th of May 2024 titled Love Quartet. The project engineered by his long-time producer has one feature with a new voice known as Frya. The project on the production side also features producers Nicky Vibes who produced the track Shift and Tizo Touchz who produced Iyeye. The EP delves deep into themes of nostalgia, regret, commitment and others that are brought through stories.
The track Iyeye is about commitment and elements that contend with it like gossip and distrust. The track produced by Tizo Touchz is a moderate paced track makes use of repetition on the catchy hook to emphasis the desire to not let go thus commitment.
Every relationship goes through misunderstandings and on the track Shift, Winky D brings out a common situation of one that comes with work and love life balance. The track makes use of dialogue to tell an apologetic story of a man who could not make it to an appointment with their lover due to work commitments (shift).
Winky D whose music is nothing short of literary devices makes use of personification when he mentions how blankets and pillows can relate to his situation as he expresses the pain that comes with separation in relationships in the track Akayenda. The Gafa uses a slow and solemn tempo on an instrumental that incorporates the gifted hand of Trust Samende on the guitar to create a sombre atmosphere. The female part which is done by Frya comforts him bringing the two voices together to create an emotional melody that one who has gone through the same can relate.
Dai which translates I wish, is a track about nostalgia. Winky D wears the shoes of a person who wishes they could turn back the hand of time and relive the times of happiness to express regret. Winky D makes use of a simile to compare love to camera that captures memory that come back to haunt their creator to really bring out the regret and pain that one goes through when they mess up in love.
