Trayvon Jahkoh makes an addition to his ever-growing music catalogue with a five-track mixtape EP titled “My Stupid Choices”. The project not only comes out as his third studio project for 2024 following the release if I Dare You and the Cool Kids And Heartbreaks mixtapes but also brings out a different Trayvon Jahkoh. The project done in vernacular, which is rare for Trayvon Jahkoh, brings up the themes of regret as the mixtape title suggests, women appraisal, beauty and toxic relationships. In the tracks Feelings, I’ve had it Askana and Zverudo, the artist shares his regret that comes with misunderstandings, unfaithfulness and distrust.
Feelings is a track that walks the listener through an experience of a man who in deep regret caused by his toxic relationship because of lack of trust and misunderstanding between him and his lover. The slow melody mixed with a fast tempo Shona rhyming scheme touches a very common real-life situation where gossip and the failure to give attention to each due to work commitments kills relationships. Trayvon carries the theme of trust and gossip to ZveRudo where he shares a story of a broken relationship that came about as a result of gossips and unfaithfulness.
On the track I’ve had it Askana which features Zimbabwe, the artists complain about women wanting to catch every wave that they are on. This suggests that there are women who tend to be there during the good times and disappear during the bad times.
Trayvon Jahkoh concludes the mixtape by exploring the theme of beauty and joy which is brought out in the tracks Bhebhi bho featuring Khuli Savage and Mwana akanaka. The tracks tell delve deep into the joy that comes with meeting beautiful women who bring more that beauty in a relationship.
