After hearing the sweet serenade created by Norton based producer HoodBeats, Drena Diego said he could instantly ‘envision what he was going to say…’ A story as old as time,’ a story of hope and inspiration, urging on the world around him and himself to keep on pushing through the hardships.
Drena Diego is unique in how he approaches his craft, he sings what comes from the universe, a connection that we all share. Taking in all the stories and events going on around him for the next few days, Drena allows his soul to pen down the lyrics to this beautiful composition called ‘Ndaneta’
At first listen one might be tempted to think Drena Diego is talking from a place of experience but after a second listen, it is clear Drena is also talking about the world around him. Using drug abuse and mental health Drena encapsulates all the problems being faced by the modern Zimbabwean, young, old, rich or poor. This is not only a story of hardships or challenges but a story of inspiration. The song intimately penetrates to the soul and after a few seconds one feels a renewed sense of purpose, being urged on to keep going despite being weary and tired (ndaneta).
Music is highly subjective and what i take from it might be different from the next individual, but in the end we all get what are looking for. Ndaneta is a universal language packaged in the form of a 2 minute musical serenade of rhyme and poetry.
