Love is a very complicated topic to explore for reasons that are complex in their own nature. However, T’naka AM.P in his latest offering Love Avenue, Regret Street EP, the Chitungwiza based artist simplifies the subject by comparing love and regret to two parallel roads going the same direction. He does this from the title and goes further on to categorize this six track EP into two, the bright side of love which he calls Love Avenue and the dark side which he calls Regret Street. The Extended Play which premiered on You Tube on the 16th of February 2024 comes as the second compilation project of the artist’s catalogue after the Tale Of An Introverted Savage EP in 2020.
The project, which was released in February, a time when the whole world celebrates love, the artist who also had his hand on the production and engineering of the project brought to light how life can change when one encounters love on the track handikusiye. Furthermore, the artist brings up a very common motif in love which is distance in the tracks Kure which features songbird Yolayash. Through a dialogue in which the two personify a couple making promises to each other to stay faithful to each other despite the distance they bring up the theme. In addition, the theme of distance is also put forward in the track distance which features Sean Qymton by highlighting the effects of distance in relationships.
Switching to the Regret Avenue T’naka AM.P uncovers the ugly side of love when things go sour. In the tracks Not The Same, Skoro Skoro featuring Sean Qympton and Adios featuring Wriite the artist consummates the second and final chapter of the EP by calling to attention the regret that comes when one falls in love with the wrong person.
